A powerful restorative justice is one that is integrated into al social movements and struggles for justice, reaching far beyond the confines of the criminal justice sytem.  This begins in our communities.  Together we will uncover and expand the application of restorative justice frameworks and practices to community building and community organizing.  We will examine the possibilities and limitations by focusing on the values, principles and practices of restorative justice.

Summer Institute: On the Cutting Edge of Justice and Healing (Post Conference Training Sessions)

The School of Undergraduate Studies (SUS) at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) is launching the first inaugural Summer Institute. In June 2017, we offer four intensive workshops on the cutting edge of justice, healing, and reconciliation. Seminar leaders have decades of experience in their fields, and their work is also integrated in how they walk in the world.

2. Discovering and Embracing Narratives of Justice and Reconciliation

2nd Session (June 26-29, 2017)
1. Justice as Healing, Healing as Justice

2. Holistic Movement-Building
Taught by Kazu Haga and Sonya Shah

NOTE:  Seminars are capped at 24 participants and run from 10am to 5pm. The cost of each workshop is $425. Partial scholarships are available solely on a need and case-by-case basis. Only one workshop per session can be chosen. 

National Conferences

The next National Conference on Community and Restorative Justice will be in Oakland, CA on June 16-18, 2017 with a pre-conference training session on June 15, 2017- SAVE THE DATES.
