NACRJ Board of Directors Holds Strategic Planning Retreat

The NACRJ Board of Directors gathered in Oakland, California, from January 21–23, 2025, for a three-day strategic planning retreat. Rooted in relationship-building, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the work, the Board came together to reflect on the organization's growth, identify key priorities, and chart a path forward that strengthens NACRJ’s ability to serve the community and restorative justice field.

Throughout the retreat, the Board centered NACRJ’s vision:

We envision a safe and equitable world where restorative interactions transform individuals, relationships, communities, and systems through the prevention, repair, and deep healing of harm.

And its mission:

We advance community and restorative justice as a social movement by serving people and organizations committed to building community and addressing harm. NACRJ provides guidance and support to establish high-quality practices with fidelity to restorative principles.

With this grounding, the Board took a close look at the current landscape—celebrating progress, acknowledging challenges, and identifying ways NACRJ can make the most meaningful impact at this moment in time. The Board reaffirmed its commitment to honoring the work of NACRJ’s founders while focusing on building internal capacity to meet the evolving needs of the field.

As the national conversation around justice, equity, and healing continues to shift and evolve, NACRJ stands ready to meet the moment—building community, addressing harm, and creating spaces for transformation across the country.

Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved in the exciting work ahead.
