COMMITTEES & VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers have long been the driving force behind community and restorative justice. They are indeed the reason why community and restorative justice has progressed so robustly in recent decades, and they are the reason why these practices will continue to grow and flourish in the future.

There are many different roles you can play as a volunteer and/or committee member, depending on your interests and skills. From young adults to those who are retired from their full-time career, there is a place and need for everyone. Opportunities fluctuate throughout the year but typically include:

  • Committee member for groups such as the Advisory Council, Law & Policy Committee, or Best Practices Committee
  • Conference and events planning committees
  • Circle Keeper for Online Community Sharing Circles
  • Tech support for Online Community Sharing Circles (e.g., supporting Circle Keepers and Circle participants by setting up Zoom breakout rooms and monitoring Zoom sessions)
  • Office (remote) volunteers to support NACRJ members
  • Interns

Whatever your role, volunteering for community and restorative justice is a deeply rewarding experience. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives, and you’ll be part of a community of like-minded individuals who are committed to making the world a better place.
